Telling A Story with Charm Bracelets

They say your choice of jewelry will speak so much about who you are as a person. Jewelry are statement pieces but of all the different types around, nothing can truly define you as a charm bracelet would.

If you know of the beginnings of charm bracelets, you know that they were slightly different from the ones we know today. Despite the years that lapsed, one is true: charm bracelets embrace symbolism and individuality. Women who choose to wear charm bracelets make an effort to decorate their arm candies in such a way that tells their story the best way possible.

Let's Start Decorating

If this is your first time to own a charm bracelet, you have an exciting task ahead of you. People tell their story in different ways. Some write, some make art, some make music and some design the best charm bracelet--that is what we're going to teach you to do here. Are you ready?

  1. Pick Your Bracelet. It all begins with the bracelet or chain. These bracelets come in different styles and materials. Some are simple and there are those that are fancier than the others--it all depends on your personal style and preference, as well as your budget at hand.
  2. Choose A Clasp. The clasp is the part of the bracelet that closes it around your arm. Charm bracelets are unique because they may come in a distinction that suits you, as well. You can pick a LOBSTER clamp, which is the most common type of lock; or a TOGGLE clasp, which is more user-friendly and easier to put on and off. You may or may not include a SAFETY CHAIN on your design too. This feature prevents your bracelet from becoming loose around your arm, so you can worry less about losing it.
  3. Define Your Theme. Before you can actually start telling your story, you have to determine what portion of your life you want to divulge with your arm piece. Some just have a general theme and they pick several charms that represent the different aspect of their lives; but some people will choose a specific theme that will represent something more exact like their family life, their travel experiences, their girly obsessions, their friendships, their marriage and so forth. Before you start shopping for charms, you have to know what you story you want to tell--or you will end up with a lazily designed charm that is messy and confused.
  4. Start Collecting Charms. After determining your theme, it is now time for you to have fun acquiring the right charms to tell your story. A perfect tip: do not hurry yourself about completing your charm bracelet. There are so many charms to be bought and so many more that will be made that will perfectly tell your story. Take your time when you make your purchase so that you can tell your story beautifully and exactly. They say art takes time to be made; and novels are not written overnight, as well. Have fun with your charm collecting and take it easy.

While that seems so mechanical and strict, know that designing a charm bracelet is more FUN than anything else, so do not be constrained by the science of design. First and foremost, you are the author of your own story and no one can tell your story best--but yourself, so ENJOY! Your bracelet will look good on your arm because it speaks who you are.

Be charming and beautiful,
